As O‘ahu braces for this recent cold weather front, ‘Iolani students brace for the prospect of Quarter 3 mid-quarter reports. Many students feel the stress of upcoming tests, quizzes, and essays at this point in the quarter and school year as a whole. The ‘Iolani Peace Institute, Education Club, and the Students for Peace are bringing the award winning documentary “Race to Nowhere” to campus to shine a light on this important aspect of many student’s educational experience.
Mr. Peter Greenhill, a club advisor involved in bringing the film to ‘Iolani, said, “I hope this film will convey to ‘Iolani students and adults that it’s worthwhile to take a good look at how much stress our students live with … and [find] ways to reduce that stress without lowering education standards.”
The movie will be shown tomorrow, 2/21, in the Sullivan 4th Floor Project Space, and is sure to spark lively debate amongst students and faculty alike. Imua invites you to attend the screening and stay tuned for continued coverage of this important topic.

Hi, my name is Sherie and I am the print Editor-in-Chief for IMUA. My mom actually decided that I should join IMUA, but I chose to stay of my own accord after my first year. I’ve been at ‘Iolani and IMUA for three years. While that may seem like a long time, time has passed by rather quickly. In IMUA, I hope to achieve better writing skills, as writing for a newspaper is very different from writing an essay for a class. While IMUA is fun, I also have a life outside of it. I play volleyball for a club outside of ‘Iolani, and I also like cooking (though I’m not very good at it). One fun fact about me is that I like dinosaurs.
