If there is anything we can take away from Mr. Daniel Schiff’s cosmopolitan career in education, it is that teaching math is anything but boring. His journey started in his hometown, Tampa, FL–where he first fostered his interest in teaching and attended the University of Florida to study education, eventually getting a masters degree in international education at Endicott College. Mr. Schiff kicked off his teaching career at full speed, teaching conversational English to students of diverse ages in Tokyo, Japan. The next 12 years were spent at the American School in Switzerland, where he took the role of both a dorm parent and director of its Global Service Program. This service program launched his career even further into the realm of international service, allowing him to embark on service adventure trips around the world, from places like Nepal to Zambia. 

Despite this vibrant career, teaching wasn’t always the first choice for Mr. Schiff. “Actually, I first studied to be an accounting major. And the closer I got towards graduation, the more I realized I wanted to do something very human-centric,” said Mr. Schiff. “I think of education as connecting with your classroom, and inspiring and connecting with students to maximize their potential. I really enjoy it.” 

Now, he finds himself at ‘Iolani where he teaches AP Statistics and Algebra 2 as a dorm parent and cross country coach.
